A Fortunate Series of Events

BlackStone Therapeutics was formed in the fall of 2022 after a series of fortunate events for the leadership team after their time spent in the hemp industry. The team screened various compounds in the laboratory against pancreatic cancer cell lines. Dr. Prakash informed us that two of the compounds had solid IC-50 values against pancreatic cancer. Our team then set out to complete the preclinical studies needed to apply to bring our scaffolds to Phase 1 Clinical Trials.

After successful in vitro safety studies, MTT assay, and PKPD, our team applied for the Phase 1 Small Business Innovation and Research Grant in September 2022 and is awaiting impact score and results. Our group is heading to in vivo efficacy models, mechanism of action, and metabolite studies. This data will be utilized in our application for the Phase 2 Small Business Innovation and Research Grant early 2023.

Experts In Our Field

The team at BlackStone Therapeutics are experts in pharmaceutical research and development, especially in the cannabinoid space. Our team is highly experienced in synthesizing compounds, purifying compounds through various techniques, as well as performing structure elucidation to identify the correct pure compound for efficacy and safety studies. This expertise extends beyond just synthetic chemistry, as we also specialize in designing experiments to diagnose the efficacy of each compound against a specific target. Furthermore, our R&D team has developed methods to optimize the pharmacokinetic profile of active drug candidates. In addition to our organic chemistry skillset, we have access to a state-of-the-art bioanalytical laboratory that enable us to accurately measure concentrations of active compounds in preclinical models and clinical samples. In short, we have everything needed to bring treatments from early discovery stages through clinical trials with confidence.

Organic Chemistry

Organic chemistry is essential for pharmaceutical research and development. By understanding the chemical properties of drug molecules, our scientists can develop new drugs that may improve or even save lives.

Bio Chemistry

Our bio chemists use their knowledge of proteins, enzymes, lipids, carbohydrates, hormones, and other substances found in the body to design drug compounds that can provide desired treatments or outcomes, which is essential in providing medicines that are safe and effective for patients worldwide.

Medical Research

We focus our research on the therapeutic properties of cannabinoids, particularly cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Scientists have already identified many possible pharmacological applications for cannabinoids, which is why we test cannabinoid-based medicines for various conditions.
